IMPORTANT!!
PEANUT-FREE ZONE FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR STUDENTS!
Peanut-free
zone. In the lunchroom one table (closest to the
windows) in each row
will be the peanut-free zone. There will be tape on
the corners of the table to make it more obvious.
These eight tables will be thoroughly washed before lunch
and after each lunch period. Students sitting at these
tables will be monitored for peanut-free lunch snacks,
etc. Anyone who goes to the peanut-free
zone with anything containing peanuts will be asked to move.
This is the best solution we could work out so that no one
feels ostracized in the lunch room while maintaining safety.
Please remember we have students with contact- allergies.
Help us by reminding your child of proper, polite eating
habits.
ALLERGIES: More and more of our students are
suffering from food allergies; in particular allergies to
nuts. This includes the actual nut-to-nut oils used in
cooking etc. PLEASE speak to your children concerning
sharing food, trading food, etc. at lunchtime and snack
time; also about personal hygiene and cleanliness of their
area in the cafeteria. It is possible for a person to
have a reaction by touching a surface that has peanut butter
residue on it. Try to reinforce that it is not a
matter of being "unkind" not to share, but unsafe
to share food and drink. Thank you for your continued
cooperation.
