| Students are expected to arrive at school before
8:05. Students who arrive after this time disrupt the entire
class. Habitual lateness will be dealt with in a way which best
helps the parent fulfill the responsibility of getting their child to
school on time.
Late-comers must stop in the school office for a late slip.
Our Latch Key program is provided for students of working parents.
Students must obey school rules during this time. The hours for Latch
key are 7:00-7:45AM if the number of students permits, and
2:45-6:00PM. A late fee is charged to parents who pick up their
child after 6:00PM.
New School Closing System:
VERY, VERY IMPORTANT!!
Beginning this school year we will use
the Gloucester County Alert System to notify parents of
early school closings and school closings due to inclement
weather. This will be our primary source of
information; however, YOU MUST REGISTER WITH THEM WITH YOUR
INFORMATION AT www.gloucesteralert.com
If school closes early they will contact you through e-mail,
cell phone, text pager, Blackberry, PDA, etc.
We will also use our PTA e-mail
and put an announcement on the website as well as KYW and
ABC Alert. There will NOT be a phone chain
originating from school. Mr. Nelly from Gloucester
County will be at our first PTA meeting to explain the
system.
Our KYW school closing number is 838. You can also check www.6abc.com.
PLEASE DO NOT call
the convent, school or rectory if it begins to snow. WE only
close early if the bus districts send out the busses. School is
not closed in the morning unless a bussing district call the convent
and informs of a bus situation. This does not happen until about
5:30 AM.
The car line is a very important means of safely dropping the
children off in the morning and picking them up in the
afternoon. If your children need assistance getting out of the
car, PLEASE park your car in the appropriate area, help your child(ren)
out of the car and walk him/her to the line. This will help the
car line run smoothly for those who can use it without
assistance. Please remember to be courteous; do not speed; do
not use your cell phone while driving in the parking lot etc. SAFETY
FIRST! Refer to the Bus Information available at
left if you need additional clarification.
*What is absent? A child
who is not in school is absent and not eligible for perfect
attendance. There are two categories of absentees: (1) Excused:
this is a legitimate absence, sickness, death in the family, etc.
All work is given to the child to make up. (2) Unexcused:
vacation during school time, absent without a note and phone call.
Teachers are not obligated to give make-up work as the parent is
accepting total responsibility for the absence. More than ten
unexcused absences can jeopardize acceptance for the following school
year. Note: A child is late if he/she arrives after the
8:05 a.m. bell. This also affects perfect attendance.
