| A part time counselor is available at SMS.
Counseling may be requested by the parent, in writing, or by
the classroom teacher on an as-needed basis with parental
written consent. In a serious situation, the police
and Crisis Intervention will be notified. Students
with serious problems will be recommended for clinical help
outside of the school.
Any child who threatens the well being of another child,
teacher or staff member will be sent to the emergency room
of the local hospital for crisis intervention. He/she
will not be permitted to return to school until a licensed
psychologist or psychiatrist presents the school with a
letter stating the child is no longer a threat to
himself/herself or others.
Parents will be notified as soon as possible if crisis
intervention is needed.
Mrs. Glenda Beschen is our school
counselor. She is available two days a week for three
hours each day. Her office hours are Tuesday and
Wednesday 11:30AM-2:30PM.
Any parent who requests counseling for their child must
fill out a consent form.
