Religion,
and the study of it, is an essential component of academic
study at Saint Margaret School. It is our task to
present Christian values and morals that are the
foundation of our Catholic faith.
The
religion program at St. Margaret Regional School
follows the diocesan Religion Curriculum Guidelines that
are quite extensive. These guidelines, in conjunction with a
textbook, provide teaching strategies that extend beyond
the classroom into the family and community.
Students
study the people, places, events and teachings that are at
the very heart of the Catholic faith. The goal is to
have these teachings translate into a lived reality.
For every grade level the methods of instruction include
scripture study, storytelling, dramatization, role
playing, group discussions, and art and research projects.
Seasonal religious activities include class and school
liturgies, prayer services for various holy days, feast
days and holidays (e.g., Feast of St Francis, Feast
of St Nicholas, etc), Christmas pageants with a Nativity
Tableaux, Lenten Stations of the Cross, Living Stations
and May Crowning. In conjunction with their other studies,
special sacramental instruction is for First
Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation are
given in the appropriate grade level.
Important reminder:
If
you are not a member of St. Margaret Parish, please
contact your parish Religious Education Coordinator to
make sure you receive all sacramental preparation
information. This is particularly important if you have
a child in Grades 1st, 2nd, 7th or 8th.
Important reminder re:
Prayer Partners:
Prayer
partner names were distributed after the Holy Spirit Mass
on September 7th. Thank you, 8th graders, for preparing
such a lovely opening celebration.
What
is a prayer partner?
Students
in grade Pre-K through 2nd are paired with an older
student to sit with during some school masses. The
students also participate in other activities during the
school year with their prayer partners. The students
attend Mass during the school year at least once a month,
with a different grade participating and serving during
that Mass, and parents and guardians are welcome to
celebrate Mass with the school.
